Have been on Vicodin for 3 years due to extreme back pain and two back surgeries in a year. With new law my surgeon can't prescribe them to me and I have run out. I do go see a pain management specialist on November 7th but I am out and got samples of Celebrex. Just want to know if it will help with the horrible withdrawals from Vicodin.
Your dr could he's just being exra cautious. He should have weaned you off of them. Its not ethical just stop prescribing it without doing that. See a pain dr if you are still in pain. Celebrex won't do anything. You can try imodium for diarrhea, an antihistamine for nerves and a hot bath will help too.
I doubt it, you can try over the counter migraine medications, it does help, just don't over do it. Drink lots of water too, that will also help a bit. Hang in there, it will be rough but you'll be fine.
No it will not help. You need to contact your doctor to help you taper down slowly. If it were me I would call my PCP for help until your appt Nov 7 for pain management. Also kaismama's advice is very helpful.
There are new prescribing guidelines for all opioids, all doctors have to abide by them. You cannot do refills. The doctor has to write a new prescription each time. I agree that your doctor should have weaned you off of them. But there may be more to this. I suggest you make another appointment and talk it out with your doctor.
