the female dog has decreased in weight caused by not only by the puppy which is still nursing off the female dog, but also has a severe case of worms. she is so sickly. what else besides the antibiotic should we administer to the dog.
You can pretty much bet the puppy has worms if the bitch does. You need to take them both to the Vet before you lose them both. There are other reasons for decreased weight in dogs. Our dog, a few years back, had tick fever and we came very close to losing him. He started with vomiting, diarrhea, wouldnt eat then wouldnt drink and he lost weight rapidly until in a matter of weeks he was skin and bones. We had never seen a tick on him, ever! Blood work proved it was tick fever. He was so sick by the time they discovered what it was, they only gave him a 50/50 chance. He recovered and lived to be 10 y/o but at the time, many were thinking he was a goner ( he was about 3 or 4 when this happened) You need a good diagnosis from the Vet and the Vet can treat appropriately. If it is worms, an antibiotic wont help her. She will need a wormer and the puppy will need treatment too because it is almost for sure she has picked them up from the bitch.
