What could be causing middle of the back pain that radiates like a band around the torso?

Women have different symptoms of heart issues then men have. I don't know anything about your age, health, social habits, or family history but if this happens more than a couple of times and you're not running a marathon you should have this checked out by your doctor. ECG, stress test, blood tests, and imaging should all be considered.

Sorry, there is another issue for patients who have a constant tight band feeling around their chests. It's not likely, but if the heart is found to be healthy then multipe sclerosis could be considered if you're having other symptoms. I'm sure you're fine because you didn't mention other symptoms.
