Hello all. I am a right leg amputee. Have lower back damage and finger damage. I deal with a lot of pain every day. I have no insurance and I am in too much pain to handle. Willing to pay cash for a proper script.
Will a pain management specialist take on a patient without being referred by another Dr.? I didn't think that just anyone could go walking into a pain management office and get narcotics (acknowledging in your case, it would be quite clear as to the cause of your pain).
If you can't, a quick appointment with a general practitioner at one of the HUGE multi-site clinics in town should be able to help refer you. Most cities have chain clinics with 15-20 doctors in each clinic.
I understand how expensive insurance can be, but you may want to seriously consider investing under the program set up by Obamacare. In a very short time, OBC is going to be repealed, and should you try to get insurance in the future, you're going to have a really tough time, with pre-existing conditions no longer being covered.
Are you a Veteran? I hope not, because it would really make me made that you're not getting the quality healthcare you need.
IRUIN; Seem like you must have been seeing a doctor somewhere, That would be a quick way of getting a referral and your medical records to a good pain doctor. Give that a try. Also just for the record, they may check you for drug use now so if your taking anything makes sure it is from a legit doctor. good luck.
