... situation I developed nerve damage in my right hip. A pain specialist Rx'd me Gabapentin 300mg. Didn't take pain away did cause me to hallucinate. So he switched me to Cymbalta, caused sezuires, panic, trouble breathing. Had to stop. I'm still in chronic pain. Any suggestions?
Welcome to the site. I see that you joined the peripheral neuropathy support group. The group has a wealth of knowledge because we all live with it every day. If we learn from experience, in the case of PN, I'd rather stay ignorant! I developed PN in both legs and feet from chemo (multiple myeloma). Like you, I tried every med the doctor could think of and either they caused seizures or just didn't work. The only thing that helps me is a long soak in a hot bath. If you find something that you can take, let me know -- Please! I am willing to try anything at this point. One suggestion, though, and No I am not advertising for them. I was a patient. Dellon Institute has offices throughout the US. They specialize in peripheral nerve surgery. Perhaps one of those doctors can help you. They did a reconstruction of my rib area after ribs were removed due to the cancer. Had horrible nerve, muscle and bone damage in there. The surgery gave me a huge relief from pain. I am thinking about going to MD to see Dr. Dellon about the neuropathy. Just a thought. Wish I could help more on the meds that might work, but, alas, I'm in the same boat as you.
Good health to you,
Deeds how much of the cancer has spread? If you underwent some treatments , do you think you would eventually be strong enough to have a hip replacement?
If the thought of surgery scares you, I take a combination of pain meds.
Despite having 4 hip replacements all on the same side, I live relatively pain free while taking a regiment of MS Contin ER (extended release) and Naproxen for the breakthrough pain.
Best of luck
