You should NEVER split OxyContin tablets. They are time released and splitting, crushing, chewing etc breaks the time release mechanism to the pill and can cause too much medicine to be released all at once which could cause a potential overdose. Never alter OxyContin in any way. Swallow the tablets whole. If the dose is too strong, discuss this with your Dr to prescribe a lower dose tablet.
