I have been on 40mg. Citalopram for approx. 4 1/2 months now. For several years, I have been prescribed Xanax, 1mg, 3x day, for anxiety. I only take my Xanax on an as needed basis as the Celexa seemed to help with the anxiety that I've been experiencing. My Dr. writes both scripts and that was a question to him when he initially prescribed the Citalopram; "can I take it with the Xanax?" He assured me that it was fine. This hasn't been a problem for me, and no interaction either. Hope this was somewhat helpful for you. Best of luck to you~
