I have an appointment to get my Implanon on August 8th, and I started my period on August 1s; but I was told by my doctor that I could only get it while on my period. I highly doubt that I'm still going to be on my period at that time, so I called to reschedule , and they can't even get me in. I was going to go through with this appointment, and just say that I'm on my period but will that affect whether or not the Implanon will work?
I am currently on my mothers account but i saw your question and wanted to give my response. I was not on my menstration when my implanon was implanted, however I would recommend that you view all your options before you choose to have the implanon put in. I have gained 80lbs, had severe migraines, and bad periods now. I sometimes bleed for 3-4 weeks then quit for 2 weeks and start again. however most of the time the menstration only last for 2 weeks. I have called the doctors office and spoke with the nurses several times and they just say oh well give it time and eventually it will be almost no period at all. well my implanon was implanted on october 6th 2009, and still deal with these issues constantly. Another thing that I have experienced is the fact that due to heavy menstration and duration of menstration I have had several UTI (urinary tract infections), a couple that have even tested for e-coli in my urine due to the length and flow of the menstration. My niece also had this implanon implanted in july 2009 and last month had to have it removed. Another thing is that i tend to get more upset and angry a lot more since the implant and i have also had some hair loss. I am currently trying to have the implanon REMOVED as this has gone on long enough. It does work as birth control but other than that if you have another option I would highly recommend you choose the other option. Good luck
