An addict who is addicted to suboxone is trying to telll me it's a method used to come off of suboxone by using methadone? I never heard of that and I believe he is lying!
Okay, the methadone could stop or lessen w/d symptoms, but it is a very long lasting, opiate (yes, artificial opiate) and it is just not worth getting messed up with. I tried for YEARS to get off of methadone, even cold turkey and then FINALLY adding in suboxone it was a month of hell! There are many awesome, wonderful people on this site who would try and help you set up a good tapering program and then the rest of us will will be there for you on the bad days. I strongly recommend that you do NOT trade out Sub for methadone. Do some surfing on methadone, you will find out it is something you just really don't want to mess with! May God bless you in your decision, Harmony
I was on methadone for chrontic pain for 10 years at a dose of 150mg. I wanted to get off off it because I hated the way it made me feel. Of course I will always be on pain meds of one kind or another, but I had to wean down off of methadone at 5mg a week or so. It was hell for me because of the chrontic pain, but I did it . It can be done without all the withdrawals if done correctly with a doctors guidance. Just my thoughts... Mary
