could there be a false positive for cocaine with the combination of lidodern patches and vicodin? I got a positive at the local hospital and have been denied my pain medicaytion ever since. I am in constant , severe pain and the local hospital where I had the test refused to redo it or even tell me what test they used or the mfg of the test.
it is not a schedulled type 2 drug (narcotic) it contains the time release through the skin agent known as Lidocaine, I use them myself I have 4 fractures in my back, I couldn't even sleep during the night it at least gives me about 12 hours of enough control until it isn't unbearable, it is excreted through the Urine but as far as showing up as a test for drugs there should not be that problem, I wish you the very best-
Your question was extremely interesting since I have been treated for chronic severe pain over the past 12+ years and never had any kind of problem with managing prescriptions/tolerances, until approx 3 yrs ago, when during a routine UA, the clinic called me and told me that I had a bad test and refused to ever see me again. They told me I tested showing cocaine! (I could write a book on problems reestablishing treatment & $ spent seeking help after that test) but I have never solved the "bad test" results. I was/am taking a number of other prescription medication and suppliments, the one unusual drug that may have caused this result but I have no confirmation is that I was taking a Lido______something, injectable. I forgot the name but it was given to me to help me regaine energy at the time, but no one would ever help me solve my questions or that problem and it is a mystery to this day.
I did take a second test approx 30 days after the bad test- and it also showed, "cocaine" again. I know I finished the bottle of the B-vitamin suppliment injectable and so far I haven't had any other "bad" tests, but I both resent the way I was treated following the test because I wanted answers as well, and no one was willing to help me solve the mystery. I totally lost my trust in doctors, because at least in our legal system one has the right to question charges made against them and entitled to get facts. Except for those two consequtive tests, that is the only time I have ever had a bad result in testing related to Pain Mgmt. treatment.
