I am on supervised probation and I recently took a drug test. I was prescribed Vicoprofin recently for a dentral procedure, and when I took the drug screening my probation officer said I tested positive for oxycodone. I have not taken any other medications, could the positive test be from the vicoprofins?
Yes it could of showed up due to the hydrocodone in it. It is very similar to oxycodone. Just explain to them it was medically necessary and have your doctor write something saying so, most PO's will abide by that if they are decent. As long as you can prove it was prescribed for you the probation officers cannot put you in jail for it. I would suggest getting off of it as soon as you can to prevent any problems though. I would also suggest you telling your doctors about the supervised probation and see if there is something else you can take that is not in that class of drugs, but if you need it than have your doctor right a statement to that fact and give a copy to your PO. Good luck hope all turns out well for you.
I've done some research, and it seems like the ingredients are very similar. My P.O. knew that the pills were medically nessesary, but he was saying that I tested positive for oxycodone, not hydrocodone. He told me to admit that I took different pills or go to jail. I only took the pills that were prescribed to me, and I think that the drug test misread the results.
