Would it cause side effects like rash or headache or dizziness? is there a recommended expiration for donnatal? does it "morph" into something else altogether with age? can it be harmfull?
Use with caution. For example, take half of a dose, wait to see what effects that has. With that first trial, wait longer the normal time before trying another. If the results are good with no abnormalities try a full dose. The pharmaceutical companies want to sell their products, tested carefully you will find that almost all will still work quite well
Hello craftnut and welcome to DC. I hope you have a good experience here and find what you are looking for in the way of supportive answers and compassion among our members. I would not take that medication... it is way to old and beings you are already dealing with IBS... it is possible that a chemical breakdown has already occurred. It is always better to be safe than sorry. Eleven years is definitely too old. You didn't mention how it was stored. Or, if it was in "unopened" condition. I would hate to see you suffer from something worse because this isn't exactly what it used to be. That is why there are expiration dates on products. It shows the last date that the manufacturer has to test that "lot" for problems. So, eleven years is more than pushing the envelope. Get a new batch and don't risk it.
