I've been on Suboxone since Dec.2010 and I'm being treated by a doctor. I'm on 2mg in the morning and 2mg in the evening. I've been told it's not bad like coming off methadone. One woman told me she had a good detox situation with her doctor but I would like to hear from other people and what their experiences were like. I'm particularly interested in how long it takes to get off of it. Like after you get to your lowest dose how long is it before you no longer need anything and you feel back to normal?
You haven't been taking it very long, and aren't at a high dose, so, if you taper off, you really should be fine. Many doctor's don't have a plan for the taper off, I hope yours does and he/she might. If you will walk for exercise during your taper off, it really helps, in many ways, trust me on this. I got down to .25 mgs and then skipped a day in between doses, and when I came off, I was fine. You need to do whatever your doctor wants you to do, but if you want to look over my profile story, to see how my taper was, click on my avatar and read it. I was on it a lot longer and at a higher dose, but tapered off fine. If you do have symptoms, and I don't think you will, you treat just the symptoms you have. Everyone that I have read here that did, all had a different lingering symptom. I did use a low dose of anti depressant and I walked about 5 days a week. Patti ps some people also get an rx of clonidine to help IF they have symptoms. You may read some horror stories about coming off subs, most of those people either didn't stay on it long enough, came down too fast or got off at too high a dose. If you taper correctly, you really should be fine. and keep up your support, that helps a lot.
