Most cases I read about seem to be that people get to a low dose of the methadone before starting suboxen. Will it help me at 50mg?
Everything I have read and the doctor I go to say a person has to go down to 30 milligrams before they will induce them on suboxone. The company that makes it has a webpage for it with an 1800 phone number for any and all questions concerning suboxone and subutex. Check that out and find a doctor near you on that site, it has all sorts of info.
most doctors want u on 30mg or less of methadone before the switch and in mild to moderate withdrawals, so that means no methadone for at least 3 days because of the half life. You do not want to go into full blown withdrawals because you start so soon. r u on methadone for pain or on a clinic. I know many people who slowly tapered down on methadone with little problems even if they had to take 1mg a day. I was on the clinic for 17 months, never a dirty urine but i would miss a group here and there and they never gave me take homes. i dont drive so i would walk 1/2hour to and 1/2 hour back. I was on the advisory board and they would not budge i just want one take home a week, so i said i coming off and going on suboxone. it helps me with the craving and if i use i dont get high. I had kidney stones and was prescribe perc 5 and i took 10 of them and didnt feel anything so for me that was reasurring that the subs work so my drug seeking behavior has changed. Good luck and remember wait until you are in withdrawals.
