can a 70 yr old women that takes elavil, resteral and uses an albuteral inhaler, and takes cystaque for bladder vitamins, take xanax as well?
I have many friends who are the same age, is this your mom? May I ask?
Or a friend? If you're concerned, just speak with her, find out the what dosage is, how many times a day she is taking this medication etc.
I don't at this time see any concern about the cocktail of meds, if she has anxiety, Xanax is a fast acting medication that works extremely well for that problem, and it leaves the body equally as fast. The other medication she is taking for depression is built up in the body over approximately four to six weeks and maintains in the system for the duration she is on it.
One word of warning I must share with you, if she takes Xanax for any length of time it must be tapered off slowly or she could risk a stroke or seizure. Please let us know how she's doing and check back. I am not a doctor, so if your concerns are very troublesome, and you know her well see if you can go with her to the doctor, that may also ease your concerns about her meds. Bless You and her. Good Luck
I was just curious how this cocktail of medications was working, sort of a follow-up. I take similar medications and am in my mid-30s, and I don't seem to have any issues personally. One thing my doctors make sure to mention is that no matter how many interaction checkers you put medication lists through, they can't compare all the medications against each other at once. It is always one medication against one medication. We are like guinea pigs in an non-managed or regulated medication trial. Throw age into the mix and it just becomes that much more complex.
I sincerely hope that whatever medications are needed are working well with the least amount of collateral cost. Best wishes - TC
