My husband was left with osteomyelitis in the spine after having a staph infection, he is in pain and is taking several pain meds, none of which seem to work. He has been in pain for over to years now, can Cymbalta help?
Cymbalta is used for neuropathy (nerve pain) as well as musculoskeletal pain such as from osteoarthritis, amongst other things, so it might help his spine pain. You might also investigate Lyrica or Neurontin. They are used for nerve pain as well and are non narcotic and non addictive. Best to seek the advice of a doctor on this one.
I was reviewing the symptoms of osteomyelitis and have to share the following:
•General discomfort, uneasiness, or ill-feeling (malaise)
•Local swelling, redness, and warmth
Other symptoms that may occur with this disease:
•Low back pain
•Swelling of the ankles, feet, and legs
If he is having any of these symptoms he may still have an infection. Just concerned about his pain being a symptom of further infection. Please consult the doctor on this.
