I just started taking about 300 mgs & I am going to slowly increase like my dr told me to do... I tried other mood stabilizers & broke out in rashes after taking for several months! Lamictal & Tryleptal were the ones that gave me a rash! I hated 2 stop both, cuz they made me feel better! So, even though my dr gave me this Neurontin prescription a few months ago, I just started taking them & I am scared! But I hear that Neurontin has less side effects & I need less side effects & I need to calm down my hot flashes! I am trying soy capsules to tone the hot flashes down & maca! But, hey anyone on Neurontin, please tell me your experiences & how much u guys are taking now & how you feel on this med vs other mood stabilizers! Thanks for any responses!
well, i started taking neurontin due to diabetic neuropathy in my feet... but it definitely helped stabilize my moods along with the other meds i take..i truly didn't realize that they prescribed it as a mood stabilizer. unfortunately, the one side effect it has is to gain weight and gain weight i did, 50 pounds in 3-4 weeks... i already weigh over 300 pounds so i definitely did not need this..my dr. took me off of it. i did help with my neuropathy and did help stabilize my moods. if you don't have a weight problem , you will probably love it... good luck and let me know how it goes..
After having to come off other meds for my fibro, I was started on Neurontin. Started at 600mg then gradually went up to 2700mg which is where they have me now. Its split into 3 doses per day. It has done a lot for the pain and neuropathy Ive suffered. I gained a lil weight but that is more due to my inability to get around like I used to. Ive had very few other side effects. I hope this helps. Good luck and take care!
I was wondering what your Dr. prescribed you for the Neurontin ? I know you mentioned as a mood stabilizer & yes Neurontin can help as a mood stabilizer.
You also mentioned Hot Flashes... And I was actually prescribed the Neurontin for my Hot Flashes...
I currently take 900mg three times & they work Great.
My Dr..tried Every drug out there after my hysterectomy & since I could not take any hormone replacement due to a blood condition.
The Great thing about Neurontin is that this Drug is so versatile for many conditions.
The side effects are actually very minimal & I think you will get good results from this med.
But it is important to let your Dr. adjust your dosages in Small increments. And you will hopefully see positive results.. Best if luck, Kathy
