... Up to 2 weeks and over useing stool softners . I am getting worried . Please help. Doctor don"t seem to help ?
Around 14% people who take Butrans do complaint of having constipation, it is generally recommended to follow these simple tips will help relieve symptoms and prevent recurrence of constipation: Eat a well-balanced, high-fiber diet that includes beans, bran, whole grains, fresh fruits, and vegetables. Drink plenty of liquids. Exercise regularly. Set aside time after breakfast or dinner for undisturbed visits to the toilet. Do not ignore the urge to have a bowel movement. Understand that normal bowel habits vary. Whenever a significant or prolonged change in bowel habits occurs, check with a doctor.
Hope you get well soon, please take care, best wishes!
I think I remember you from last winter. I take the opiate in Butrans by mouth. When I first went on this med I had the worst constipation ever. It lasted quite a few years. Finally my body adjusted to the drug. But it took a long time. The doc I had back then suggested I use the liquid Fleets saline enema. I resisted that idea for a long time and then tried it. That thing works well. It generally produces a BM in 5 minutes. Lately the stool softeners are enough. But I keep a Fleets in the closet in case I need it.
Of course diet is also important. I know that but I can't eat most of the foods recommended above. All I can do is have some fruit. It seems I need to eat 1 or 2 cans of fruits a day. I liked Papaya in the can. My favorite is Libby's brand, which is hard to find, but it's good. I think the name is Chunky Papaya Mix.
I also noticed different brands of stool softeners work better or worse. I never buy the name brand, because it's too expensive. And yet I often wonder if it would work best.
I hope all our suggestions have helped
