I am unable to leave my home. I have very bad anxiety and panic disorder. I want a normal life but am afraid of even setting foot out my home. Is there anyone out there having the same issues please help thank you
I tried Buspar for anxiety and it didn't do much for me. What has worked really well is Inderal or Clonidine. It helps block that crazy anxious feeling I get when I'm around a lot of people, like shaking hands, rapid heartbeat, and sweating. They are also non-addictive and non-habit forming. You might also want to try something like Prozac to help control the anxiety. The good news is that Buspar helps a lot of people, and if it doesn't help you, there are many other options that will. If you want to try something other than medicine, meditation, therapy and exercise can reduce anxiety.
I have panic disorder and I take Xanax, which works like a charm! When my panic disorder first began I also felt like I didn't want to leave the house, with Xanax, I just can't wait to get out and have fun!!
Keep on your doctor, there IS help for you out there! Therapy and medication are both great tools and also, be courageous, even if you've to force yourself just to walk to your mailbox.
I wish you only the best, and a better life, a life that is LIVED!
I have the exact same issues that have developed over the past 8 months. I've been on Valium for 6 1/2 months 5 mg twice a day and it doesn't do anything for me. Dr suggested adding buspar but says it takes along time to start working. Mine is so bad I start shaking in the shower. I can't hardly do anything it scares me so bad.
BuSpar has been exceptionally effective for me. Before, I could barely step foot out of my house and driving was impossible. I take 30mg twice daily and it works.
As for benzos, I wouldn't touch them and my doctor refuses to prescribe them anyway because of the permanent long term damage they cause.
Counselling is also something to consider to learn ways of coping ~ I can now use learned behaviour controls to "talk myself down" during anxiety/panic attacks.
It works if you are willing to work it...
