Does anyone suffer from burning mouth syndrome and did you have any successful treatment for it?
Hello, I developed BMS about a year ago. It was horrible, as you probably know. For me, what I discovered, is that I have a sensitivity to both tomatoes and walnuts. But it is the walnuts that have the harshest effect. It wasn't like I was eating a lot of walnuts each day, but I was having about 2-3 tablespoons on top of my salads each day. Other than a similar, but not as dramatic, sensitivity to tomatoes, I am not even someone who has even one other allergy. So if you do eat walnuts, try giving them up. It may take about 4 days for your mouth to feel noticeably better, but give it time.
Also, if you are eating "whole grain bread" check the ingredients for walnuts... I was surprised to find that there are walnuts in my Brownberry Oatnut bread. So I stopped that too. For the first time in a year, my mouth feels 100% "normal." If you don't eat walnuts, examine your diet for other food that might be causing a reaction. Good luck!
