Which anti depressants are the best
Hi, Watermelon! The best antidepressant for depression is the one that works best for you! There are many classes of AD's (tricylics, MAOI's, SSRI's, SNRI's, atypicals, etc.) and dozens to choose from, and as every individual reacts differently to every drug finding the right one for YOU is a matter of trial and error.
That being said, my best experience has been with Effexor.
Best regards and good luck to you! Wildcat
PS, no drug "cures" a clinical depression... they control the symptoms so that you can live a normal life.
Wildcatvet is correct. I've tried Effexor,Prozac, Wellbutrin and Pristiq-none of these have worked for me. I've started Zoloft 10 days ago and do feel less depressed already which is unusual, but of course all meds have their side effects and I'm very sensitive so I'm taking a very low dose to start but still
have unwanted side effects such as more anxiety and increase in my restless legs and waking frequently through the night. I'm hopeful these will go away or at least stay tolerable. I did have genetic testing to see which meds would work with my system and it is still hit and miss as the others I've tried didn't do a thing after months of waiting for them to "kick in". Everyone is different so all you can do it try it and most importantly you must give it time to see if it will help you or not.
Good luck, I wish there was a better way to try these meds rather than just trial and error.
