- asthma, chronic pain, congestion, butrans, breathing
I have a bad cold with chest congestion and of course my asthma always rears it's ugly head with a cold too.
I've read that people have actually died from breathing problems while using Butrans.
Is it safe for me to use them now? I have severe back and leg pain for years and my doctor wants me to stop using hydrocodone an try the patch instead.
I have asthma and I used the butrans patch before developing an allergy to the medicine. As long as your asthma is well controlled and your Dr is aware of your condition, you should be ok. People have died of breathing problems using hydrocodone too. I don't think your Dr would argue with you if you didn't want to switch until your cold and asthma problems clear up. That seems pretty reasonable. I hope this helps.
I too have asthma and am on Butrans. I have never had any complications so far. I have only been on it since May of 2012.
Each person reacts different i had breathing problems with the patch an i dont have asthma i would definitely stop until your lungs clear cant take chances with your lungs you have to breathe
I have very very bad bad asthma and just started going to pain clinic. He gave me the butrans patch. and I get it tomorrow I am very scared to use it. I am in the hospital all the time with my asthma. and I have congestive heart failure. I did not really like this doctor I feel like he did not really look at my med history. so I am calling him to let him know he needs to give me something else, I know I am not risking dieing. or back in hospital.
