Most of the reviews are for the patches and I'm due to start taking the pills any day now. So many are not happy with the patches I'm wondering why that seems to be the Drs. choice rather than the pills. So any reviews for the pills would be nice. Oh yes, for those people saying they can't shower or swim with the patches on, there is a good latex surgical tape you can get at the pharmacy to cover over the patches, I had to use this after puncturing a lung to cover the hole till it healed and it works really well, it won't come off, it's thicker than any bandage.
Yes I too am taking the pill form of Buprenorphine, 8mg tab 2x daily, I have been on this for 3years. I don't know why others are prescribed the patch, I personally have never have been nor have I tried it, but the tablets are great. The only complaint I have is the taste when letting it dissolve, but there are different generics with different sizes, the smallest being about the size of a baby aspirin while still being 8mgs. For me they don't seem to last as long though and I find myself taking my 2nd dose a few hours earlier then I would if I were taking the regular sized (being about the size of an ibuprofen) ones. Again though that is just me I have heard others don't have that same problem, my Dr & I figured it was just my tolerance and I make sure of the genetic at the pharmacy so I don't get the small tablets. Also with the tablets you are free to take your daily dose how you want, either all at once or in intervals throughout the day. I hope this helps even though my review is a little late.
