Its cronic pain effecting my everyday activities and mood. My doctor refuses to treat it with narcotics even though I have found that to be my only relief. I've tried EVERYTHING else under the sun. Any suggestions?
Has your doctor prescribed PT? That can help. What type of doctor are you seeing? If it's an internist, you need to find a back/neck specialist in your area. They are more qualified to treat your specific problem. The last resort is fusion surgery. You might loose some movement, but if the pain goes away, it is worth it. BUT... make sure you exhaust every other treatment. Narcotics should only be a short-term solution. I had a ruptured disk in C4-C5 and had surgery. Unfortunately, what I had done wasn't approved by the FDA, but it helped me. Fusion surgery in the neck has a better resolution that in the back. Good luck and keep me updated! Hoped this helped. -Lisa
