... Is it simular to effexor? How long did it take to start working? Thanks!
I hope you are tapering off, or have been tapered off Effexor.
Brintellix is a new form of SSRI that works on multiple versions of serotonin at the same time. Five of them to be exact.
Doctors usually start you at 5 mg for two weeks, followed by 10 mg until you show signs that you need 20 mg.
Startup includes nausea and some times the other end, but these go away pretty quickly. Most take it in the morning, but some, who use sleep aids (see your doctor) take it at night.
It has a long half-life (66 hours) so, even though you should not miss a pill, you don't have to take it at exactly the correct time as with Viibryd, another multiple SSRI.
Keep in contact with your doctor and make sure you report any symptoms not in the handout you got from the pharmacist.
Good luck. I think it is a great med.
