... long should I take ? What the risk for my 15 days old baby
Methergine is given often to breastfeeding mothers. It is to help involution of the uterus. Although it is unusual to be given so long after birth. Did your doctor tell you why you need to keep taking it?
A better place to look for drugs safe to take during pregnancy would be LactMed. It is run by the National Institute for Health.
Asking a knowledgeable professional such as an IBCLC or other health care provider who specializes in breastfeeding. You can find one here: ilca.org
If you put methergine in the search bar at LactMed, it has information of of up to .75 mg per day which is much more than you are taking. That way you know what questions you need to ask your doctor.
LactMed states that it is generally safe for nursing mothers. It may have the side effect of increasing milk supply, but very little of it actually gets into the milk.
Hope that helps.
