I've read on the Community.Breastcancer.org site of breast cancer and Mirena. Has any one here been diagnosed with breast cancer after insertion within a year or more? I've had Mirena for 3 months, painful breasts, bloating, intestinal problems, spotting the entire 3 months, slight weight gain and lower abdomen pain comes and goes. Considering removal with the cancer information and all these side effects. Any input is is appreciated.
All hormonal birth control has a risk of breast cancer. The mirena contains estrogen which can support some types of breast cancer. Anything with estrogen in it can do this. Talk to your dr. Usually if there is no history of breast cancer in your family they will prescribe it.
