I have been on Diladid 8 mg 4xdaily for several months now, and not much relief. (2 fractured discs in thorasic region) As of today, I have been prescribed Fentanyl patches, 75's I believe, the script is in my car... My question is, which brand is the best? I've heard that some fall off, and some don't work as well as the other. When I researched a few months ago, I found Costco to be the cheapest, however, is it the best brand? Also, best prices? Thanks in advance.
You've got basically 2 choices, Duragesic, the brand name, and the generic. Costco carries the same meds as any other pharmacy and their prices are usually the best around. If you have a walgreen's near you, I would check with them too, if you have their card their prices are, on some things, cheaper. Its been my experience that brand name patches stick better then generic, but I don't know if that's the case in this instance.
I have been on the Mylan 75mcg patches for about 3 years. Recently I got some of the Mallinckrodt 75mcg patches because that's what the pharmacy happened to have. I didn't think much of it, then I looked at the two packages. The 75s made by Mylan have 7.65mg of Fentanyl, while the 75s made by Mallinckrodt have 8.25mg. This works out to 600 more mcg in the Mallinckrodt patches. I cant find a reason why this is the case, and I would REALLY like someone who knows why this is the case to let me know. Also, the Mallinckrodt patches have much stronger adhesive. I kinda like the Mallinckrodt patches a little bit better.
