I have a hole on my upper gum that leads to my nasal cavity. The hole is due to having a cleft lip and palate as a baby and the hole is right above a canine tooth. My orthodontist said that their is a high possibility in loosin my canine tooth by doing a bone graphing to cover the hole thats right above it. The hole is not big but im not too happy about them having to take a piece of bone from my hip and possibly loosing my canine tooth. Do I really have to have a bone graph? If so, how painful would it be to recover from and how long would I have.to recover before going back to work amd school.
I have had several bone graft also due to CL&P. None were completely successful. The pain comes from the harvest place such as your hip. My mouth didn't hurt too bad. It took several days for my hip to get better. Good luck. I hope the graft takes. I still have a bridge because I don't have enough bone for implants. My successful rate with grafts was lousy and I hope yours is better :)!
