Hello all. Would greatly appreciate some guidance on blood pressure medication. I went to the doc 10 days ago and he stated that my blood pressure (135/88) was too high and that it is time I start taking medication. The doc prescribed me Amlodipine 5 mg. I haven't noticed any improvement with my blood pressure, but have had some side effects (fatigue, increased heart rate). I called the doc today and he now wants to add hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg to my regimen. Both pills to be taken at night before bedtime. I have done some googling and cannot find anyone else taking these two together. There were a few research papers show up, but nothing that give me a warm fuzzy about these two. I am a bit worried that my doc is not familiar with treating elevated blood pressure and is heading the wrong direction. Help please.
