... iron deficiency in a child aged 12? Thx
A 12 years weighted 32kg's child is suffering from Iron Deficiency: hemoglobin level is 7.5 and RBC's count is low "3.7". I have a box of Ferrous Sulfate tablet "325 Mg" from "Nature Made". The question is what is the ideal dose for the child and can I use the 325mg tab in this case.
As it happens, those 325 mg tabs contain 200 mg of ferrous sulphate or 65mg of elemental Iron which is 361% of the daily recommended iron intake. 12 year olds and above use the same dosage as adults. Have a quick read here: https://www.drugs.com/pro/ferrous-sulfate-tablets.html
Get some of those moist/wet toilet wipes also as the iron tablets will cause really sticky, hard to wipe stools. Your 12 year old will thank you (I'm addicted to the things). :-)
I hope this was helpful. Take care.
