I noticed that gums are not bleeding at all when I brush my teeth, the bleeding time after a laceration required a little pressure but stopped bleeding in less time then when I was on the aspirin, and I have not had any bruising even though I bumped myself a few times. These are the same situations in which I would have bruised when on the 81 mg aspirin. I am concerned that I do not have adequate coverage to prevent recurrent clots. Of course, I do not understand why I developed clots to start with since I was on the aspirin. Thank you. Linda Morris
Blood clots (also called deep vein thrombosis) most often occur in people who can't move around well or who have had recent surgery or an injury. Does this apply to you?
Other causes of blood clots can include birth control pills, obesity, cancer treatment, a bump or bruise, bad veins, heart trouble, family history of a blood clot or have taken a long trip in a car/plane etc.
Daily aspirin therapy reduces the clumping action of platelets in the blood and possibly prevents heart attack.
Stopping daily aspirin therapy can have a rebound effect that may increase your risk of heart attack.
You should talk with your doctor about your specific risk.
