I am on birth control but I took a contraceptive pill and a few days later began bleeding. should i take the sugar pills or continue with the active pills??
I am assuming you mean you took emergency contraception? If you are taking birth control pills (which are also considered contraceptives) correctly, there is rarely a need to take any emergency contraception since routine birth control pills work way better than any emergency contraceptives. Emergency contraceptives can mess up your cycle for a month or two. Your best bet is to continue to take your birth control pills as usual as they come in the pack no matter if you are bleeding or not bleeding. It is not unusual for emergency contraceptives to cause one to bleed within a week or so of taking them then to delay your regular bleeding later. I am uncertain of why you thought you needed emergency contraception when you are already on routine birth control? Emergency contraceptives are a huge dose of hormones designed to delay ovulation. With routine birth control pills you do not ovulate anyway so why would you take something to delay ovulation if you are taking something already that prevents ovulation?
