Hi, Black Cohosh is a great herb, but also very potent. Your wife might try instead Sage tea (salvia officionalis , NOT the white sage used for smudging, just the herb you rub your poultry with before roasting) You can buy it at a health food store that carries bulk herbs, will be much fresher and much less expensive. The tea by itself tastes pretty nasty so I brew it with Sleepytime or Tension tamer. Brew a Tablespoonful 4 hours before bedtime and drink COLD at bedtime. It doesn't have to have ice or be refrigerated, room temp is fine. But Sage tea taken warm is a febrifuge--it will have the opposite effect. Strain through a tea ball or cheese cloth. A little honey may help the flavor too, but not too much. Sweets can increase the flushing and night sweats. This works great for me. I hope it helps your wife.
