I've been on birth control for one month. I was supposed to start my new pack of Tr-Linyah however due to weather conditions I haven't made it to the pharmacy. My mother had a pack that she allowed me to use. It's called Lo Lestrin Fe. Is it okay to finish this pack for the month and then switch back to my original brand when this pack is finished?
I would not recommend that you do this without speaking to your Drs office first. Lo Esterin Fe is VERY different from Tri-Lynyah. The dosages are completely different. Tri-Linyak is a triphasal pill and Lo Estrin is monophasal. What you need to do is to call your physician or clinic who prescribed your birth control, tell them the situation and tell them that you do have the Lo Estrin Fe on hand and ask if it can substitute for one month. I am not sure they will, but they might be okay with it. There is a lot of difference between the hormones of a young girl and that of an older woman who has children. Is there any delivery services offered by the pharmacy? They may have a four wheeled drve vehicle that can make it to your place-it is certainly worth asking. Otherwise you may be better off taking a month break and using condoms and spermicide this month rather than substituting pills but ask your physician first. This is something they should be able to tell you over the phone. I dont know why people never think of calling their Drs offices in situations like these? that is what the phone is for. You need to be sure this is a safe substitution because all birth controls are not the same thing and are able to substitute one for another. The two you are speaking of a VERY different formulas.
