My doctor had told me to just take the pills (28 pack pirmella 7/7/7) for a month before they would be effective, so I began them on the next Sunday after I had received the prescription, which was about two to three weeks after my last period. I later read that I was supposed to start them the day after my period, and I'm very concerned that even though I've been taking them at the same time daily they may not be effective now. When i called the doctor's office the nurse told me that she did not understand my question and to just keep taking them as I "regularly" would. Does this mean that I should start my second pack after my next period or should i continue as I have been? Am I currently protected from pregnancy?
No, continue on with the current schedule. All it means is you're off your regular cycle a bit. You were protected after 7 days of use, your period won't come when it would have without the pills, but during the time you are on the sugar pills. When you take all the sugar pills start the next pack. You stick to the pill schedule no matter what you're period is doing or not doing.
