As i was sayin 1mg Lorazepam 3x day. My phsychtrist says if i cant take the lorazepam she will move me to valium. Ive asked for Xanax becuase i have taken it some. Not takin valium before.Said I am too bad for xanax. I have always heard Xanax is the stronger of the 2. Just wanting to hear some other opinions. I have 3 children age 7, 3, & 10 mnts. Dont wanna be zonked out. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Even w/other meds other than viibryd & the seroqeul. Thanks & God Bless.
I would suggest asking your doctor for alternatives to seraquil. I take seraquil, but also take xanax and have for many years now. I CAN tell you that of two, seraquil is BY far more draining than the xanax.. I have never taken valium, but because i take seraquil & xanax, I can tell you that the seraquil puts a heavy zonked out feeling on me. I hate that, so I only take it at night. However, I don't have small children to attend to anymore, but you will notice that taking care of your panic/anxiety which drains the LIFE out of anyone with xanax, you will have more energy to do what is needed to take care of your family and less energy being zapped from the horrible anxiety & panic attacks. I hope this helps you and take care.
Hello crazypunk, all benzodiaepines whether lorazepam or xanax can cause drowiness depending on the dose. I would trust your doctors decision on this. He must have a good reason why he is giving you the meds you are on. If you are not happy with this, I would suggest a second opinion from a different doctor. Wishing you the best...
I have been on serouquel, xanax, and valium, not all at once of course, in my opinion and everyone reacts differant to meds, when I was on the serouquel I took it at night, but in the morning still felt drained, the xanax I was on, but even though it kicks in faster, it also weres off just as fast, and for me that wasn't good for I would start to feel nervous and anxious as they were wereing off, but as I said this is me not u, valium I just didn't like, it made me tired to much I didn't want to do anything, but alot of people are able to take it, I guess your Doctor must have a very good reason why she wants u on valium, so in my opinion being u never tried it why not give it a shot and see what happens who no's it might work great for u... GOOD LUCK...
Dear Crazypunk, Welcome to the site. Always glad to have a new member. You said you wanted any suggestions, so I will give you mine. It doesn't mean its right, but if you're writing in needing suggestions we are all here to help you in whatever way we can. The other's are correct. The doctor put you on the medications because he thought you needed them. But do you feel the same way. Obviously not by you're question. I've truly been dealing with the most stressful thing I ever had to deal with right now. Right before this, I got the crazy idea to just stop taking my antidepressant Pristiq, which helped my depression a lot. My husband kept making remarks on how I could manage my depression and everything else without meds. Well, lets just say two days ago, he was begging me to take it again. lol.
Not really a laughing matter, because I was all kinds of negative mental distress. I'm struggling right now on what I should or shouldn't take. Because I think part of my depression right now is due to family stress right now, and it will get better when things calm down. But I have the exact same diagnosis's as you do, and Lordy mercy, if that aint a different ball park I've ever played at. lol. I have three children too. Well one is little. And I, like you, absolutely hate being and feeling zonked out, so to speak. I can tell you what I am on is all, and then give you my suggestion. I take 100mg of Pristiq, 300 mg of Lamictal, 300mg of Trazodone for severe Insomnia, Klonopin for my severe anxiety, and ADHd. This is only my oppinion, but I would talk to you're doctor about all of this and would personally consider the Klonopin. I have asked for Xanax many of times, and they never would prescribe it, I guess because it is stronger and doesn't stay in your bloodstream as long as Klonopin, and you therefore have to take the Xanax more often. That's how my dr. explained it to me, but he could have cracker's for a brain. I don't know. lol. Now I do take the adderall because I have always had ADHD really bad, and have taken ADD medicine my whole life. My 18 yr.old said to me the other day "My gosh mom, you would literally forget you're head if it wasn't already attached to you're head." I kinda argued with him, and he reassured me, I definately was ADHD in every possible way. lol. For me, anyway, it's been a miss and hit with the antidepressant, but I beleive the Prisitiq has helped me the most. And I'll tell you one more thing, before you fall asleep :), I'm in no way knocking the seroquil in any shape, form, or fashion, because it helps a lot of people. But when I took it, it did make me way too drowsy to try and take care of a two yr. old at the time. Another lifesaver for me, was when he put me on Lamictal. It helps different issues, but is a mood stabilizer, and I cannot tell you the difference it made in my life. I've been down the road of being to overmedicated, and that wasn't pretty either. My doctor prescribed a migraine med. the other day. Took it the day after, and drove to another dr.s app. an hour and a half one way. I was so looped, I almost wrecked several times. it got disposed of when I got home. This has been hard for me to do, but you have to be completely honest with your dr. and tell him exactly what you're feeling and what's going on, or he may prescribe anything to you, that may not help a beans at all. I wish you the very best of good luck, and nothing but peace and happiness.I beleive you'll be guided in the right way. And try to be positive. Negativity is poisen. I hope you enjoy the site, and all the support and help you will receive. You're Friend, Ruthie
