I take Lamictal ( lamotrigine ) for bipolar disorder , other uses and off label ones also include schizoaffective disorder.-
We all react differently to meds, but I have not gained an ounce and also have not been "zombified" by it.-

Take care,
Abilify worked really well and worked really fast for me. I am not sure how far along you are in your diagnose but I ws not aware of even have a baseline history of your lipids, sugar levels, blood pressure, and BMI. Make sure to let doc know of any history of family diabetes. Abilify may cause an increase in sugar but you can learn how to maintain the suar levels if you get the base studies done first and learn what to prevent from the sugar levels are rasing so make sure after being on abilify you get your baseline checked again. Hope it works for you as it did for me when I used it in the past.
My son was diagnosed with schizoafective bipolar depression only type.
He has hallucinations and hears voices all the time. He becomes suicidal
when the voices are screaming in his face to kill himself. I worry so much about him. He is 28 years old. He is under the care of Betty Hardwick MHMR He was put in a state hospital and they got rid of the voices. Then when the MHMR Psychiatric Dr. saw him when he returned she took him off one because it might cause diabetes. He now has no quality of life. He is now in another psychiatric hospital and on a new medication, which seems to be working. I fear MHMR will take him off of that, too. Have you had to deal with anything like this? Were you having hallucinations and, or voices, too.
I welcome any insight you may give me. I'm happy you are
doing so well!

You are welcome.-
Abilify can be used for both schizo and bi polar. It is rather expensive without insurance, but other wise a great med to help you with this. Your doctor will be able to fit your needs to a particular drug. I was in high school all day and wouldn't be able to take multiple pills a day, so he had me on wellbutrin xl 150mg and i would take 1 in the morning. It also helped me with my low energy problem.
Good luck
