6 years old is very young to have this diagnosis. I'd recommend a second opinion if you haven't gotten one.

Common drugs for bipolar are mood stabilizers like Lithium, Lamictal, Depakote, and others.

A child psychiatrist would be the best doctor to consult regarding this.

I have a daughter who was diagnosed at age 6. She had great results with Risperdal and Zoloft.

My son, diagnosed at age 5, has been on so many different meds I can't believe it. He will be 9 in January. We have tried cocktails of every variety of the following:

Risperdal
Klonopin
Adivan
Zoloft
Abilify
Zyprexa
Prozac
Depakote
Serequal
Vyvanse
Daytrana
Adderall
Ritilan
Focalin
Trazadone

Thats off the top of my head. There are probably more. I just keeping praying for that proper cocktail to come along.
