... disorder and now back to bipolar with psychosis something... I know the difference between the two and I have both so is that a dual diagnosis?
My doctor initially thought I had a personal affect that was a little at odds he said along with my bipolar. The therapist he sent me to, however, thinks any social affect I may have is from being raised in an extremely disfunctional family or PTSD that goes with that. So I would tell you how important it was to me to see a therapist as the pschiatrist's assessment did not help me, but freaked me out a little. I don't know your situation, but I do think the BPD diagnosis can be tricky unless you've known your psychiatrist a long time. I hope this helps, take care. And I do believe dual diagnoses are fairly common.
Hi there moniia7.
I've been searching for your answer for 5 hrs and I haven't found anything that relates to your question. This has never happened to me. I'm so sorry. I really wish I could find something. I'm here to support you if I can. This was a tough question. Thank you for asking it because I learned a lot about bipolar and borderline personality.
I know what you are going thru. I have been dx with both myself. I went in to the hospital thinking it was my bipolar and come out with the fact that I was borderline personality along with Bipolar. I did not know I had that at the time. My mom is borderline and I also have PTSD. I was told when I left the hospital that I have a dual dx. They said that they are so close in symptoms it is hard to tell which one is acting up. I hope this helps.
