... and nothing seems to work. the only one i havnt tried is valium.will it help? if so how to i go about talking to my doctor? open to any thoughts
Not sure what you have tried for your anxiety, but asking the doctor about valium can't hurt. You'll just have to explain that your anxiety is still not undercontrol and you are wondering about something like valium. Have you tried other benzodiazepines like valium such as klonopin or xanax? Have you tried any of the antidepressants which also treat anxiety such as Lexapro or Zoloft?
What other meds are you taking to control the bipolar disorder symptoms? There are just so many meds to try. Unfortunately it takes many trials on different meds to find the right combination for any particular person. So hang in there and keep trying. It took me years to find the right combo for my bipolar symptoms.
Keep in touch,
Hello! I can really relate to how you're feeling. I too am on a long list of medications and have taken almost every med you can think of... As for your question on the valium--Xanax is the strongest of the benzo group (ativan, valium, klonopin, ... ) [you stated that you're currently on zyprexa, lithium, lamictal, klonopin, ativan, buspar, xanax, celexa... ]Is mania or depression your main struggle? I know zyprexa made me very tired and bloated; gained weight and water retention. how much are you on of everything if you don't mind me asking? my personal advice would be to stop the buspar all together, as it does nothing! in my opinion, celexa is one of the worst antidepressants and lexapro is its cousin--so i dislike both. However, it sounds like a good antidepressant would add a dimension of stability. as far as the zyprexa goes, there are many substitutes in that same antypsychotic family, such as seroquel, geodon, risperdal, fanapt, asenapine, invega... personally i did the best on geodon, abilify, or risperdal. Now lamictal is a fantastic mood stabilizer! can't say enough about it, but you have to be on enough of it.twice a day, i'm on 200mg . for a replacement for the celexa, I'd either try cymbalta or pristiq. if the lithium works for you--stay put. Here's the meds i'm on to give you an idea and i've never been more stable in my life: lamictal, abilify, effexor xr, trazodone for bedtime, adderall, ritalin, xanax--these are my psych meds. i do not have bipolar, but i do have a mood disorder, ptsd, anxiety, depression, adhd, etc... please feel free to ask anymore question or if you need clarity.
