... advice? i have bipolar and i see my dr today
I am 42 bipolar and also suffer from anxiety and insomnia.
I have been on seroquel for quite some time now and it has worked very well for me, and have not experienced a single side effect.-
One thing you must bare in mind is that not all organisms are the same, we are all unique and process and tolerate medications in different ways, what may work for me does not mean it will work for you, or that you will experience side effects or not.
Having said that as you know all meds have side effects and benefits, this medication is quite strong and also quite good and you must outweigh the risks vs. the benefits with your Dr.

All the best and take care.-
I was diagnosed with Bipolar I in 2005. It took my psychiatrist about 2 years to find the right "cocktail" for me. I had anxiety, ruminating thoughts, and major sleep issues. Now I take seroquel, lamictal, and celexa. My doctor was reluctant in prescribing the celexa because anti-depressants can cause mania but felt that my depression was bad enough to keep me on it. I think you should work with your doctor to find the right combination of meds to help you and if you feel your doctor is not listening to you change doctors. Mine also prescribed me ativan and abilify for the times when I feel a little manic. For the most part I don't have to take the two meds now that I am stable.
