... cope with being bipolar when it's bad. what are some helpful suggestions for when I get really agitated... sometimes I feel like I can't calm down once the mania starts and I'll go from calm to screaming at the top of my lungs in less than 5 seconds it seems. I start to feel that it's unfair to my fiance(who gets the brunt of these episodes) and my family and then me. I just don't have anyone who is bipolar to talk to about this kind of stuff I will be going to a local support group starting monday, Frankly at this point i'm looking for anything...
Hon are you on any meds? I don't know if it will help you or not, but decreasing stimuli and playing soft music does allot for calming. This means if someone is yelling they have to go somewhere else to do it. Your fiance should go to the support groups too, so he can learn that its not him and help you instead of feeling hurt by you. I've never been diagnosed as bi polar but I have episodes where I get upset and just get out of control. My bf knew how exactly to handle me when that happened. He'd just hold me and talk softly to me, make anyone else go away. It was like magic. Now I have to think of him holding me, since he's gone.
