... geodon 40mg. I'm still not sure how to tell myself if I'm becoming manic, I'm truly scared I feel like I cant trust my own brain. I've been on the geodon for about a week now, and in the past 24 hours I have slept 2, I am non stop cleaning. Is this from the medicine or am I having an episode? I've contacted my psychiatrist, and am waiting for a call back. What are some things I should be aware of so I can identify myself if I'm having an episode? Is there anything I can do to help myself in addition to the meds? I have family that is so supportive and helping me, but I want to help myself also. Any and all advice is welcome, I understand the condition of bipolar from a computer, but I also would like to learn more about it from people who have it, and understand what it's like. Thank you so much
Hi Angel0122 - I'm bipolar as well and I was diagnosed about 9 months ago so it hasn't been all that long. It is confusing at times but reading all you can helps. I found that a site called Psych Central . com has lots of info on bipolar as well as some wonderful articles written by people with Bipolar that really helped explain how I was feeling and made me feel better and not so alone in this.
The thing that concerns me is your non stop cleaning. SNRI meds like Effexor and Cymbalta can cause mixed episodes so something may need to be done with your meds. Even with a mood stabilizer I am unable to take that kind of med.
You are so lucky to have supportive family. Mine has basically closed off communication with me as acknowledging my problem would have to make them look at themselves. But I am seeing a therapist so that I have someone to talk to about how I feel and how to cope with some of the things I feel.
So my advice is to educate yourself all you can about your illness and to have your Psych doc recommend a therapist who can guide you in ways to recognize and cope with it.
