... emotional breakdown back in October but does not feel human with all these meds Dr insists she needs them help me help her has anyone experienced this ?
Is your girlfriend receiving any kind of therapy along with the medications? Once the initial crisis is over quite often therapy will help retrain the mind to cope with stressful circumstnaces better and alleviate the need for so much medication. I don't know your girlfriends particular symptoms, but the best you can do is be supportive, encourage her to seek professional counseling and if need be get a second opinion on the medication issue.
Hey Urhstry2. Yes ive dealt with something similar. My hubby is bipolar & the 1st Dr we went to put him on all these meds saying eventually he'd feel improvement just keep taking them. He was adamant that my hubby need all the meds & even told me after my hubby complained of feeling like a zombie not himself or even human that it was a bipolar behavior to claim the meds made him worse. Well guess what? My hubby finally broke down behaved disjointedly, would no longer leave our home & almost never slept. After a brief hospital stay we found a new Dr who said all the meds were my hubbys problem. The dr stopped all 11 of the other meds & prescribed abilify & provigil only. My husband has felt great since then with no manic episodes at all in almost 3yrs. Mental health issues are very hard hard to balance
