I know this may not be "drug" related, but I ate a hug bag of candy the other day and have felt like crap ever since. I'm tired and nauseous - I have no energy at all and can barely function because of that. I knew I would pay for eating the candy, but I thought by now the effects of my sugar crash would be gone. I wondered how long these side effects would last. Drinking coffee or other caffeinated drinks have no effect on my fatigue. Side note - my bipolar symptoms are stable. None of this really seems related to mental illness at all. I think I've been bipolar long enough to know the difference. ;)
Hi sunflower012 - Yep, you definitely got a sugar/carb overload! I'm laughing, but not AT you, only WITH you, as I've been guilty of the same pleasure, and did I ever pay with feeling crappy for days! The same happens to my son, so he now avoids sugar. He used to get a bit of a lift, then the sugar 'lows', no energy. Now, its straight downhill... he drags for days. Some of us are just more sensitive to sugar, which ironically is very chemically similar to cocaine! ("Addiction to drugs such as cocaine could be caused by a faulty reward system in the brain - and the same flaw leads to a weakness for sugary foods. In fact Sugar and Cocaine are highly similar on a molecular level and so have similar effects on the mind and body."). Oh, and don't drink caffeine. That makes it worse! You should be good in a day or two. Good luck!
