... turned ten. we have been through so many doctors and meds and still no changes. I feel through research that she has bi polar disorder. I am at a lose with help and wanted to know if anyone can recommend someone to see that can diagnosis her correctly. thanks
The huge problem here is that children technically can't be diagnosed with a "mental" illness under 18, so most of the time they've been guessing. A good psychiatrist can treat her now, as an adult. There is a web site called healthgrades.com can help you find a psychiatrist in your area, and it will give reviews and qualifications of the drs. Remember tho she's an adult unless you have legal guardian of her or something, and you can't make her do anything.
May I ask; what is being happening with / being done for her on the social side? School, friends, social media exposure, siblings (if any), nutritionally etc., and, as I learned the hard way; what are you doing for you in all this? You know when you fly, before take-off they take time to tell you where the exits are, and, in the event, if the masks come down, "put yours on first." We can very easily become ill, especially when it's our own flesh & blood. Don't let that happen. I did, and, as you can imagine our ability to help others becomes all the more difficult when we do not take steps to keep ourselves "able." Anyway, that may not be what you asked, but I was prompted to respond as I did. I hope is doesn't offend, not my intention.
I know this, so I 'm inquiring only because, as you're finding, it's easy to become discouraged as the medical community, overwhelmed as it is can have a very hard time making the time to diagnose this, and, due to the nature of the issue and her age, it can literally change by the day, by the hour, especially considering her age.
