I've tried a few different drugs such as zoloft which made me emotionless, trazodone which made me feel hung over in the morning and seroquel which helped but i couldn't wake up to anything. Does anyone know something i could try that would help my severe bipolar depression and manic episodes? Please any advice would help. And yes medical marijuana helps to an extent it only works for short amounts of time lol. Thank u

I am also Bipolar 1, what works for me , does not mean it will work for you, we are unique, but here is my cocktail:
Lexapro 20 mg in the am
4 mgs. of Klonopin in the am and 4 more in the afternoon.
Seroquel 400 @ night
Zyprexa 5 mg @ night
Klonopin 4 mg @ night
I have tried many meds, I was diagnosed in my teens, I am 50 now.
You will have to go through the "trial & error" with your Dr., meaning you will probably have to try different meds before finally having the right cocktail for you.
I was diagnosed Bipolar 1 finally on 1/31/1990. I was 25 years old. I am now 53 and the meds I was given still work today. I am on 900 mg Lithium and 60 mg celexa per day. I do take 100 mg of Trazodone at night to sleep. I know everyone is different. If you want to talk, let me know.
Everyone reacts differently to bipolar meds. I can't take Trazodone, Seroquel (due to Akathisia) or SSRI's (burning red skin sometimes accompanied with small blisters, as well as fits of rage). After 2 years of trial and error, the only combo I could take was Tegretol and Wellbutrin. On the positive side also, the Wellbutrin helped stop smoking cigarettes!
I hope this helped at least a bit!
Have a great day!
I take 40 mg paxil once at night 10 mg Valium n 5 mg Ambien .
I'm 65 and have n still will battle depression for the rest of my life. There is no cure. I started crying constantly at age 3 and cry everyday to this day. It's trial n error with medication. I have taken alit of different meds over the yrs. I don't like mind altering meds at all. So I stay with what I have n walk with the Lord fighting my demons daily.
Prayers for you
Depending on life stressors, weather, barometric pressure, noise, bright lights,
etc. This gives me stability and yet the mania still breaks through at times. Seek out a psychiatrist and NOT a medical doctor! Psychiatrists not only went to medical school but then their specialty is in brains and mental illness.
Hello I have tried every single medication there is for my bipolar and mental issues and I would like to suggest a medication called Cymbalta. After over 25 years of living in the dark, 8 weeks later came a shock to everyone around me I opened the curtains for the first time and was not manic. It has been very successful in treating depression, anxiety and bipolar in so many people I know including myself as well as other family and friends. I hope you can try it for in 8 weeks I have heard so many great success stories from anyone whom has tried it. Good luck
I'm currently on a great combination of meds for BPD and other diagnoses: Prozac, Lamictal, and Buspar. These meds perform well together and have very few side effects. They work for me, but I know that differs for everyone. Maybe look into them and talk to your doctor. Good luck!
My Dr. has me on Clonapin, Trileptal, Vraylar, and a low dose of Seroquel. Please ask your Dr. about Vraylar where other drugs like Lithium, Depakote, Geodon and Invega would not work I have been on this for over a year and it has few side effects and is weight neutral at least for me which is also a plus. I gained on some of those others.
