I've been diagnosed as bipolar with depression, as well as anxiety and PTSD. My story is a long one, but I'm curious, what medicines have helped you most? Those with similar diagnosis of course.
Hi, Amy! Over the course of a few years I've tried many medications/combinations. What is working beautifully for me now (finally!) is lithium and Vraylar. No side effects, but the lithium does require a blood test every three to six months and some minor precautions..
Best regards and I wish you the best of luck. Wildcat
Hello Amy, I have depression, anxiety, and PTSD. I am currently on Remeron for PTSD and Depression with good results and no negative side effects. I take Xanax for anxiety, and so far, no side effects. I am not what one would call "happy go lucky", but things are better than b4 we got to this point, which took several yrs. Lots of trial and error. Best of luck to you, ChelleKay
Hi Amy, like Wildcat I have taken a few combinations over the decades but the one that is working best for me at the moment is an antipsychotic, Chlorpromazine and Diazepam for anxiety attacks. The antipsychotic balances out the rapid cycling extremes with good effect for the moment.
I feel like I need to add something to the great comments so far. I have bipolar I with some psychotic features and severe anxiety. I'm going on 3 years with my current psychiatrist to find the right comination of meds. Many meds didn't work. Some did. It varies with each person. What works for me might not work for someone else. You really need to try alot of things.
One note is that in addition to taking Seroquel, Lamictal, Wellbutrin and Metroprolol (to deal with racing heart), I found great relief taking Buspirone for anxiety. I take 30mg twice a day. That, combined with the occasional Xanax help me cope.
I hope this spin is usefull to someone.
