I am 10 weeks pregnant and have been using betadine douche once or twice a week to clease the outside of my vigana. i dont douche. is that dangerous for my unborn baby? concerned.
The outside of your vagina should not need anything more than soap and water to cleanse. Using betadine is killing both good and bad bacterias and can change the pH of the vagina and cause you more problems-it is very harsh and not necessary for general cleansing. I would definitely recommend that you stop this since you are pregnant. There is just no benefit to doing this and it may harm your child. I certainly wouldnt do so unless your OB-GYN says it is ok and I cant imagine one saying this is necessary. You never want to douche unless told to do so as well.
